Resumen del trabajo

During the last two decades Brazil has emerged as a regional economic power. In the last years, with its steady economic growth Brazil has not only supported humanitarian missions in the Latin America and The Caribbean Region (LAC) but also in Africa and Asia, with educational, technology transfer, and health programs.  The aim of this study is to get a better approach on how Brazil is still influencing policies in Haiti, after the earthquake and as an emerging economy with global influence. From the perspective of a developing country Brazil might share the goals of solidarity and human rights that it has signed as a member of the Charter of The United Nations.  In light of economic interests, based in soft power diplomacy, however it is important to highlight that Brazil is also creating a new zone of influence, with political and economic interests in the LAC. The methodology of this study will be based on the health policies taken by Brazil as a United Nations Peacekeeping member in Haiti by and by researching documents on the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is expected to draw a line between economic and humanitarian aspects of the Brazilian Health Diplomacy
